Duel of the Elites is a new competitive layer inside the Kingdom of Power Preparation Phase. Despite the name, it is not currently described as a real-time battlefield. It appears to turn normal KvK Preparation scoring into smaller daily races between the strongest active Governors from both matched kingdoms.

Quick answer: The top 150 Governors by Power from each kingdom are selected for cross-kingdom groups. Their normal Personal Preparation Points reportedly determine the Duel leaderboard. Finishing first in a group earns ranking rewards and creates a Preparation Point Bonus for the winner’s kingdom in the next stage.

Current information status

Duel of the Elites was introduced in the August 2026 update. The official announcement confirms the event’s purpose and eligibility but directs players to the in-game rules for the complete mechanics.

Some of the more detailed rules below come from early community reporting and have not yet been independently verified by Kingshot Intel. We will update this guide after live event screenshots confirm the selection timing, group rules, bonus formula, and rewards.

How Duel of the Elites appears to work

1. The game selects eligible Governors

After two kingdoms are matched for Kingdom of Power, the game reportedly selects the top 150 recently active Governors by Power from each side.

The official update confirms the top-150 Power requirement, but we do not yet know:

  • The exact selection timestamp
  • How recently active is defined
  • Whether current, historical, or effective Power is used
  • Whether a player can lose eligibility after selection
  • How ties around rank 150 are resolved

Do not increase Power solely to cross the expected cutoff until your event panel reveals the exact snapshot rules.

2. Selected players are divided into smaller groups

The 300 selected Governors are reportedly divided into 10 groups. Each group can contain up to 15 players from each kingdom, producing approximately 30 competitors per group when both kingdoms have a full eligible roster.

This transforms one enormous kingdom leaderboard into multiple smaller races. A Governor does not necessarily need to outscore all 150 enemy players—only the competitors assigned to the same Duel group.

3. Normal KvK Preparation activity supplies the points

Duel reportedly uses the Personal Preparation Points you already earn from the current KvK stage. It does not introduce a completely separate set of scoring actions.

That means an eligible action can contribute simultaneously to:

  • Your normal Personal Preparation score
  • Alliance Preparation score, where applicable
  • Kingdom Preparation score
  • Your Duel of the Elites position

The reported kingdom bonus is different: it increases Kingdom Preparation Points in the following stage but does not multiply your personal, alliance, or Duel score.

4. A minimum score unlocks leaderboard eligibility

Early reporting says Governors must meet a daily group point requirement before appearing on the Duel leaderboard and qualifying for ranking rewards.

The required value has not yet been confirmed. Reaching the normal 200,000-point KvK chest should not be assumed to satisfy the Duel requirement unless the event interface explicitly says so.

5. First place creates the kingdom bonus

The Rank 1 Governor in each Duel group reportedly receives ranking rewards and earns a Preparation Point Bonus for their kingdom.

If there are 10 groups, each Preparation round can potentially award 10 group victories split between the two kingdoms. Multiple winning bonuses reportedly stack, making the number of groups won—not only the largest individual score—strategically important.

Why the next-stage timing matters

The Preparation Point Bonus reportedly activates in the next stage rather than the stage in which it was earned.

That creates a chain:

Duel result Reported benefit
Stage 1 group victory Bonus during Stage 2
Stage 2 group victory Bonus during Stage 3
Stage 3 group victory Bonus during Stage 4
Stage 4 group victory Bonus during Stage 5

If confirmed, Stage 4 remains strategically important even though Duel reportedly runs only through Stages 1–4. A Stage 4 group win could provide an advantage during the final Preparation day.

The exact bonus formula remains unknown, so we cannot yet calculate how many normal points one group victory is worth.

Best strategy for selected players

Check the group before spending heavily

Do not assume every group is winnable. Compare:

  • Your current rank
  • The point gap to first place
  • The scoring pace of the leading Governor
  • Your remaining eligible resources
  • Resources required for later stages
  • The kingdom’s overall Preparation position

If an opponent already has an overwhelming lead, dumping an entire month of resources may produce little kingdom value.

Do not automatically stop at the normal chest

For a player outside Duel, reaching the normal personal milestone and stopping can be sensible. A selected Governor in a close first-place race has a higher ceiling because additional Personal Preparation Points may produce a bonus for the whole kingdom.

The correct stop point becomes situational:

  • Push: First place is realistically attainable and your resources score efficiently today.
  • Hold: You are leading but should preserve enough resources to respond.
  • Abandon: The gap is uneconomical and later stages offer better opportunities.
  • Milestone only: Reach personal rewards without chasing an unwinnable Duel.

Preserve a response reserve

Do not spend every eligible item immediately after daily reset. A visible lead can invite an opponent to pass you later.

Keep a reserve appropriate to the stage, but do not wait until the final seconds and risk connection problems, forgotten buffs, unfinished upgrades, or actions completing after the scoring window.

Spend on the correct day

Duel does not make an inefficient KvK action efficient. Continue matching resources to the stage where they score.

The normal preparation categories commonly include:

Stage Common scoring focus
Stage 1 Construction, speedups, Watchtower Intel, Governor Charms
Stage 2 Hero Roulette, Hero Shards, gathering, construction and research
Stage 3 Pets, Taming Marks, Hero Roulette, Hero Shards, Watchtower Intel
Stage 4 Troop training, Mithril, Widgets, Forgehammers, gathering
Stage 5 Broad cleanup day with several progression categories

Always follow the live point table on your server because available items and scoring rules can differ with kingdom progression.

Kingdom leadership strategy

Duel of the Elites should be managed as a kingdom-level resource-allocation problem.

A useful leadership tracker should contain:

Field Purpose
Duel group Identify the 10 separate races
Best kingdom candidate Player with the strongest realistic position
Current rank Shows whether the group is competitive
Gap to first Defines the required push
Available scoring capacity Estimates whether the gap can be closed
Enemy pace Detects active whales and late surges
Recommendation Push, hold, milestone only, or abandon
Expected next-stage bonus Tracks potential kingdom impact

Leadership cannot transfer one Governor’s points to another. The goal is to help each selected player decide whether their individual group is worth contesting while protecting the kingdom’s resources for later days.

Avoid ten blind spending races

The biggest mistake would be telling all 150 selected Governors to spend everything every day.

A better approach is:

  1. Review all group standings.
  2. Identify close and winnable first-place races.
  3. Estimate the resources needed to overtake.
  4. Compare that cost with the expected next-stage kingdom value.
  5. Preserve stockpiles in groups dominated by unreachable opponents.
  6. Reassess after each stage because groups may be reassigned.

What non-selected players should do

Players outside the top 150 still matter. Their normal Preparation Points contribute to the kingdom total and benefit from any Duel bonuses earned by selected players.

Non-selected players should:

  • Continue following the normal KvK scoring schedule
  • Reach personal milestone rewards efficiently
  • Coordinate major resource use with kingdom leadership
  • Avoid wasting items on days when they do not score
  • Help monitor the overall kingdom percentage and projected finish

Duel adds leverage to the top 150; it does not replace the contributions of everyone else.

What to save before the next KvK

Potential Duel participants should preserve the same high-value resources already used for KvK Preparation:

  • Hero Roulette spins
  • Mythic Hero Shards
  • Advanced Taming Marks
  • Truegold and Tempered Truegold
  • Truegold Dust
  • Construction, research, training, and Master Skill speedups
  • Widgets
  • Hero Gear Forgehammers
  • Mithril for eligible late-game accounts
  • Governor Gear and Charm materials
  • Master Academy materials
  • Completed or nearly completed Watchtower Intel missions

Saving everything indefinitely is not optimal. The objective is to enter KvK with enough stage-specific capacity to contest a winnable Duel without crippling normal account progression.

Information still missing

Kingshot Intel is still seeking confirmation for:

  • The exact Power snapshot and activity window
  • The daily qualifying requirement
  • The Preparation Point Bonus percentage or formula
  • Whether bonuses have a stacking cap
  • Individual and group ranking rewards
  • Group reshuffling between stages
  • Tie-breaking rules
  • Whether selected players can be replaced
  • Whether every kingdom age uses identical rules
  • How the Duel interface displays projected bonus value

Screenshots of the Rules, Groups, Rewards, and Leaderboard tabs will allow these sections to be replaced with verified values.

Frequently asked questions

Is Duel of the Elites a PvP battle?

The official announcement calls it a cross-kingdom group battle, but current reports describe a Preparation Point competition rather than a troop battlefield. Normal KvK spending and progression actions reportedly determine the ranking.

Who can participate?

The official requirement is the top 150 Governors by Power from each matched kingdom. Early reporting adds a recent-activity condition, but the activity window remains unconfirmed.

How many players are in each group?

Early reports indicate up to 30 players: 15 from each kingdom. The 300 selected Governors would be divided across 10 groups.

What determines the Duel score?

Personal Preparation Points earned during the current KvK Preparation Stage reportedly determine the Duel leaderboard.

What does the winner earn for the kingdom?

First place reportedly creates a Preparation Point Bonus that applies to the kingdom in the next stage. The size and formula of that bonus have not been publicly confirmed.

Does the bonus increase personal points?

Early reporting says no. It reportedly affects Kingdom Preparation Points only, not Personal, Alliance, or Duel group points.

Should I spend everything to win my group?

No. Push only when the group is realistically winnable and the resources required are efficient for the current stage. Preserve stockpiles when an opponent’s lead is too expensive to overcome.

Final recommendation

Duel of the Elites changes KvK Preparation from one kingdom-wide spending race into multiple tactical decisions.

For selected players, the winning approach is not simply to spend more. It is to recognize when first place is attainable, use the correct resources for the current stage, preserve enough capacity to answer late pushes, and refuse unwinnable races.

For kingdom leadership, the priority is visibility: track every group, estimate the gap, and coordinate the Governors capable of converting their personal stockpile into a kingdom-wide bonus.

This guide will be updated as soon as live in-game rules confirm the remaining values.
